Watamu Treehouse: Unique and Secluded
Although Watamu and Malindi are sometimes put under one bracket, they are in fact two totally different coastal hubs. Watamu Beach covers the region of Blue Lagoon, Turtle-Bay and Mida Creek, inside Watamu Marine National Park, while Malindi Beach sits 23 km northerly in the northeast end of Malindi Marine National Park and Reserve. The first version of the tree house was built in 1992, as a single-room home where the Krystall family came for holidays. The present towers were revamped in 2001 by Nani Croze of Kitengela Glass House. In her signature panache, Croze added quirky yet elegant coloured glass all over the towers. An open plan carries across its rooms up to the rooftop decks overlooking the lush forest and the ocean, along Turtle Bay Road.

Kilifi can be split into three zones – the narrow coastal plain, varying in width from 3 kms to 20 km; few coastal hills lying below 30 ms asl, and the Nyika Plateau rising from 100ms to 340 ms asl.
For the greater part of the year, the climate along the coastal plain is pleasurable, though humid. Temperature ranges between 21C and 30C along the coast, and between 30C and 34C further inland.
