Much of a likeness to the nearby Moorings just up the road, La Marina embodied in its giving all that is great about a marina. It is an equally up-to-date hangout known for its oceanfront location with beautiful views of the Indian Ocean. La Marina specializes in seafood cuisine. Visitors often come here to enjoy a leisurely meal while watching the boats go by, or to experience the vibrant coastal bliss. With its relaxed ambiance and delicious cuisine, La Marina is a favored eat-out.
“La Marina Seaside Restaurant is a beauty to behold! Tucked away right by the Creek of Mtwapa, it offers the best ambiance with nice breeze straight from the Ocean with beautiful yachts and boats anchored at the waterfront. La Marina Seaside Restaurant specializes in the best seafood dishes but also has a taste for all the other cuisines including grills, pizzas and pastas. For any occasion that you may have, La Marina Seaside location would be just what you are looking for!”
Just before sunset, the restaurant begins to fill up with patrons from nearby hotels and towns, some from as far as Watamu. Scattered among the usual seafood platters and burgers are more than a few pints of beer. A closer look at the sunset libations, however, yields a surprise. Among the standard local lagers, La Marina serves various blended and brewed drinks from top-rate international brewers. Price range is Kes 3,000 to 6,000 and it is open week long from 9am to 9 pm.
There are plenty of places to extend the party from here. 5 km away at Mtwapa is a famed establishment with extended night hours. And away from the usual entertainment, Club Lambada has a select theme each night – with rhumba live band, salsa, bikini pool dance, cabaret show and everything in-between. With a sunken dance floor and centrally placed pool, it is a vibrant place for those who love to dance the night away. Mtwapa is the coastal village that never sleeps.
Club Lambada is one of the well-regarded clubs at the North Coast. Also located nearby La Marina Restaurant is The Moorings, Jumba la Mtwana, Bahari Gates and Mumtaz Restaurants. La Marina is 17 km north of Mombasa via B8 Mombasa-Malindi Road, taking a turnoff right after Mtwapa Bridge. It is less than 1 km from here to the location. It is pretty straight forward from the highway to La Marina but, just in case you wander, locals are always happy to help with directions.
