Kikambala Beach: A No-Frills Public Beach

Travellers interest in the immediate North Coast of Kenya, above Mombasa, is on the five principal beaches of Nyali, Kenyatta, Bamburi, Shanzu and the surprisingly little-known Kikambala Beach. Picking up from the more-popular Shanzu Beach, linked in-turn to Bamburi Beach, the 11 km long reef-protected Kikambala Beach – the prime beach between Mtwapa and Vipingo Creek – is less developed but quieter. One of its biggest drawbacks is that it lacks a clear line of communication

The easiest access to Kikambala Beach is a dusty 3 km all-weather road. By the same token, it has fewer ocean-facing resorts and is more popular as a public beach. It is served by a few middle-budget resorts that include: Sun and Sand Resort, Sultan Palace Beach Resort, North Coast Resort, Royal Reserve Safari Beach, Ocean Blue Apartments, Xanadu House and Kelliana Resort. Kikambala Beach is situated 21 km from Mombasa City and 3 km beyond Mtwapa via B8.

Kenya is renowned for its stunning coastline along the Indian Ocean, offering a variety of beautiful beaches that cater to different preferences – from bustling resorts to quiet, secluded coves and picture-postcard creeks. Diani Beach, known for its powdery white sands and turquoise waters, is, perhaps, the most popular. Yet, each offers a unique experience, in almost always perfect tropical weather.

Touring Kilifi County offers a delightful blend of coastal beauty, lovely beaches, cultural richness, natural wonders, and fascinating ancient ruins.
