Barnley’s Guest House is found 25 km northeast of Kitale, off A1 Kitale-Kapenguria Road, 2 km outside the southern border of West Pokot County. Set on prime 5-acre property, this cozy and rustic secluded getaway, with a profusion of floral varieties, is both a place to escape, take it easy, and a useful base to launch new adventures. Its location at the boundary of West Pokot and Trans-Nzoia counties makes it a convenient jumping-off place to explore both regions, south to north.
Barnley’s Guest House is run and managed by the Barnleys family, who have lived in Kenya for the last 78 years. Their mission is to offer a secluded getaways that provide a rejuvenating break from the hustle of daily life, allowing you to unwind, reconnect with nature, and create memorable experiences in a homely, serene and secluded settings. Stunning views, hiking trails, and a bucolic setting gives its guests the chance to unwind in nature’s embrace. You also get to participate in farm activities, enjoy farm-fresh meals, and unwind in peaceful surroundings.
The main house, a pretty rustic refurbished colonial-style country home, oozing Victorian, featuring elaborate ornamentation and decorative details, both on the exterior façades and interior spaces, is inviting, warm and timeless. The mature gardens and ancient trees complement it well. There is also an old farmhouse with two double guest rooms and additional detached furnished tents. Aside from taking in the beauty of the lovingly-cared-for gardens around Barnley’s Guest House, guests can also enjoy walks at the farm, or explore nearby places of interest including the Cherangani Hills Reserve and Saiwa Swamp National Park.

West Pokot has significant variations in temperature with the lower lands experiencing temperatures of up to 33oC, and highlands experiencing modest temperatures of 15oC. The main rainy seasons usually occur between March and June and July to August.
