Mazingira Park: A Communal Leisure Park
If, instead of proceeding northbound after crossing Kilifi Bridge, you take the immediate left turnoff onto Bofa Road, you soon arrive at a reposeful nature park of Kilifi simply known as Mazingira Park. A lovely small lighthouse is found at the entrance. The first impression on arrival is how serene the park is, and how green everything is, thanks to the giant ancient trees notably of its baobab trees that provide deep shade. Its community based organization is continually involved in environmental conservation activities like tree planting and life saving training
A public outdoor space, set at the seafront across the channel from Mnarani Beach Club, is very pretty and relaxing. What’s more, there is no absence of interesting areas to explore on foot including the beautiful Church located just 300 ms away which is thought to be one of the foremost in Kilifi County. Then, there’s the untravelled Arab ruins. Mazingira Park is situated about 2 km from Kilifi Bridge along Bofa Road. Formerly under the management of the Environment and Natural Resources ministry, Mazingira Park is now managed by Kilifi County.

Kilifi can be split into three zones – the narrow coastal plain, varying in width from 3 kms to 20 km; few coastal hills lying below 30 ms asl, and the Nyika Plateau rising from 100ms to 340 ms asl.
For the greater part of the year, the climate along the coastal plain is pleasurable, though humid. Temperature ranges between 21C and 30C along the coast, and between 30C and 34C further inland.
