Msambweni (Mbuyu) Beach: Tropical Paradise
Contiguous with Gazi Beach, the untravelled, undisturbed and restful Msambweni Beach is 4.5 km long. It is sometimes mentioned as the Mbuyu Beach in reference to an landmark 600 year old mbuyu (baobab) tree found here; or again as Sawa-sawa Beach, the Swahili idiom for “everything is okay”. Although less developed than the 15 km Tiwi-Diani-Galu Beach, it has a more laid back feel to it and it is not at all rare to find travellers to Msambweni doing a tour with local fishermen or mingling with the natives at the sleepy Msambweni town. The area is typified by its beaches, rocky outcrops, and low cliff tops, offering picturesque landscapes.
Albeit few and far between, it has good hotels, like: Sawa-sawa Beach House, Coast Sun Gardens; and Private Villas: the Kakazi Beach House, Mlango Lodge, and Hotel Sonrisa. Deep in the heart of the virgin coastline at Msambweni, 28 km south of Ukunda by way of the A14 Road, sit the Msambweni Beach House, one of the most-loved destinations, with a main house and three guest villas. The Main House has four en-suite bedrooms, including one ocean-facing suite, sharing a 14-meter infinity pool. A few meters from the Main House are the 3 guest villas each with their own private pool, a garden and a sweeping sea view. All rooms and villas have AC and digital satellite TV. The property has a long private beach.

Kwale has monsoon type of climate marked by hot and dry weather from January to May and cooler temperatures from June to August. Average annual temperatures ranges between 24oC and 30oC.
Kwale is widely known for its 35 km long coast, where Diani Beach sits. Inland, the coastal uplands, commonly referred to as Shimba Hills, is a sharp elevation in altitude. The land then steeply falls again into the Nyika Plateau and Tsavo.
