Kilangarenyi Falls: A Scenic Cataract Falls

Akin to Dembwa Falls 9 km south, Kilangarenyi Falls, above Wundanyi, is easy to access on foot across well beaten village paths, steep in places, without much difficulty. Plan your hike in good weather, to avoid the rains season. Take note: A local guide, or resident, is essential to you help navigate the winding village paths. Based on its shape, formation, and flow Kilangarenyi Falls could best be describes as a cataract falls, flowing over rocks in a series of small drops or steps, creating a stair-step effect. Except for a small series of plunges at the bottom, the lofty falls in hushed surrounding does not lose contact with the rock beneath it. Moreover, the varied ledges on the valley face, one after another, create a tiered appearance. Kilangarenyi Falls is located about 3.7 km east of Wundanyi, on a looping road that goes north then south. Total walking distance to the base and up is about 2.6 km.
