Shimba Hills Organic Farm: Beauty in Variety

Developed over six years, with an emphasis sustainable agricultural practices, operated organically from virgin terra, Shimba Hills Organic Farm is spread over an 11-acre property at Shimba Hills. As it stands, the farm is a flourish of thriving indigenous and exotic vegetal varieties: Papaya, oranges, lemon, lime, tangerine, coconut, mango, moringa, casuarina, cashew nuts, pomegranate, guava, banana, dragon fruit, pineapple, and custard apple, among more. There are beehives and fish ponds to boot. In many respects then, Shimba Hills Organic Farm is a stencil on living and working in a pleasurable tropical setting. The is a 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms farmhouse on the property with a large kitchen, large verandah, small sitting room, and work room. Outside the house there are 4 multi-purpose rooms. Shimba Hills Organic Farm is situated about 8 km from the A14 Likoni-Ukunda-Ramisi Road, and about an hour’s drive from Diani, offering a quiet rural setting.

Taking cognizance that Kenya is primarily agrarian, farm tours are a fantastic way to learn about the backbone of its economy, connect with nature, and gain insight into the operations of working farms. As diverse as they are unique, farm tours provide an experience and a deep connection to the land. It is great fun, too!

Located along the Kenyan coast, and a hub renowned for its pristine beaches, rich cultural heritage, and breathtaking landscapes, Kwale County uniquely combines two of Kenya’s unsurpassed offerings – beach and safari. Kwale County is also a melting pot of coastal traditions, modern development, farming and trade to boot.
