The Giant Footprint: Mystery and Curiosity
The olden concept of “mysterious giant rock footprints” often appears in folklore, mythology, and speculative theories. These footprints are typically large, human-like impressions found in stone, and they have sparked curiosity and imagination for centuries. In many cultures, the giant footprints in rock are attributed to gods, giants, or mythical beings. These embossed Giant Footprints, too, at Laaria Village of Lolera location in Tigania West closely resemble their opposite-numbers Lwayo la Mulungu in Kwale, Holy Nzaui Rock in Makueni and the Wagevere Jesus Rock in Vihiga; which up until now continue to baffle the imagination of the communities.
At all these locations, having considered the odds, attribute the strange footprints to ‘Jesus’ who they all believe must have walked here or there. Geologically, these Giant Footprints at Laaria appear to be of the earliest men who stepped on molten rock during the formation of Nyambene Range through volcanicity. Many mystery ‘footprints’ are natural geological formations that resemble human footprints due to erosion, weathering, or other natural processes. Laaria Village is located 8 kms from Ruiri Centre via the new tarmacked D490 Ruiri-Isiolo Road which branches-off C91 Meru-Maua Road 4 kms from Meru Town. Isiolo sits 38 kms north of Meru.
