Kipteberr Meteorite Site: Strange, Scenic, Unique
On appearances alone, there is something quirky about the dome of the Kipteberr Hill, situated 5 km south from the main Cherangani Forest. The hill is notable for its cultural and historical import to the local communities, as well as its scenic beauty and ecological importance. Kipteberr Hill gets its name from its canny likeness to the hump of a bull, locally known as Kipteberr. According to old-wives tales, this is where a meteorite fell on villagers, killing scores who did not heed the warning of a crow that there would be a disaster.
