Kapkoris Hill Viewpoint: A Warm Welcome
Above Kapenguria town, Kapkoris Hill, with clear views overlooking Riwo and Suam, is an easy, cheap and rewarding place to enjoy scenic vistas of the Suk landscape. Its locations is not only liked for its lovely views, making it a popular spot for photography, sightseeing, and relaxation, but because of its accessibility and convenient distance from Kapenguria. It is easy to reach from the main road, taking on the foot trail, over a moderate gradient, to the designated rock base at the top, with a firm under footing, which serves as a useful observation deck.
Unlike most of the iconic hills in West Pokot, the dome-like Kapkoris Hill is less conspicuous, but a joy for the walker and hiker. Standing at the edge of the rock, the chilly breeze notwithstanding, the view engulfs you in a feeling of isolation and a sense of natural beauty. For miles upon miles, the unsullied countryside of many beautiful hills, mountains, forests, valleys – with interspersed development – is bound to take your breath away. While Kaisagat Hill Viewpoint lacks amenities, and is for the most part a rough-and-ready destination, it is a gem, sold short.
