In 2017, the Anderson Trust, of the self-same family name, who have lived here for generations, received a grant to build the Mount Elgon Guesthouse to function as a site for practicals for their local vocational course, hospitality and catering. Part of the highlight of staying here is also engaging trainees as they practice their new skills catering to guests. It really is a great community initiative, bringing together members of the area to offer their trainees with an incredibly high quality station to gain experience, while allowing guests to enjoy a beautiful and relaxing stay.

The centre currently runs 9 vocational courses, including motor vehicle technology, hair dressing and beauty therapy, fashion design and garment marking, masonry, agri-business and metal processing, and more. You can also learn more about Mount Elgon Trust, began to sustainably boost the economic and living standards of the Chepchoina community. Lastly, you can visit the nearby Mount Elgon Orchards for a farm tour.
