Of the 10 non-gazetted forests in Nyamira, covering 256 hectares, Manga Hills (76 hectares) and the Kiabonyoru Hill (11 hectares) are the most salient water towers. Propitiously, River Gucha, the longest in the region, alongside Sondu, Charachani, Kemera, Nyabomite, Eaka and Menyenya Rivers rise on the Kiabonyoru Hill. All these rivers eventually drain into Lake Victoria.
