Guided game walks are done in company with armed rangers along the river or up the Yatta Plateau. Breakfast on the banks of Galani, watching the pod of hippopotami wallowing a short distance upriver and the wonderful sight of Karibou Storks para-gliding in to investigate a kill, is mesmerizing. Tsavo Safari Camp has its own safari vehicles for drives in the Tsavos and along the Athi towards Lugard Falls for sightseeing and game viewing.

Makueni County’s terrain is generally low-lying, falling to 600 ms near Tsavo at the southern region. That is to also say, land rises from low-lying terrain of about 600 meters above sea level in the southern Tsavo area to higher elevations in the hills.
