Isiolo Cultural Festival: Showcasing Diversity
After many decades of been identified with tribal strife, it felt like Isiolo County could never escape that pigeonhole. To reach great numbers of people to see a different side of the cultural mix in Isiolo, the Isiolo Cultural Diversity Festival was originated, to encourage fresh ideas in cultural tourism, motivate an avant-garde concept in the bead industry synonymous with its tribes, progress bonds among the communities and help teams work toward one shared goal. From the onset, Isiolo Cultural Festival set to kindle hope, hosted by the friendly and fascinating Somali community resident in Isiolo. “Isiolo Cultural Festival aims to remind us of our roots. Every community has its roots. It is important to pass on traditions to young people in order to preserve our rich cultural heritage” Abdi Adan. The County Government of Isiolo in partnership with the Ministry of Sports Culture and Heritage, State Department for Culture and Heritage hosted Isiolo Cultural Diversity and National Cohesion festival in 2019 at the Wabera Primary School.
