Releng Hot Springs: A Local Delight
Situated 10 km north of Ossen Center, deep in the Kitibei village in Bartolimo, the rumpty rough-hewn Releng hot Springs is, all the same, a catchy spot to enjoy a no-frills outdoor bath. Here, groundwater heated by the Earth’s geothermal energy emerges at the surface as heated water. A liked day-spa by the natives, who literally strip down to their state of nature, all to be amused by it, Releng hot springs lack very little in adventure. Its rough and ready site, with no amenities.
Traditionally, gender dictates how patrons take their bath. Men bath up-stream. Anyhow, it is a place of laughter, playfulness and sheer joy. The friendly folk let their guard down and take in nature with a big-spoon. Releng is also set within an easy-on-the-eye country that is inviting for hill climbing excursions, fly-fishing, camping, cultural tours and nature photography. On a lesser note, Releng springs is historically known for sighting of the African black and Martial eagles.
Whether you’re seeking relaxation, adventure or birding, the stride in and out to Releng hot springs offer a unique and enjoyable way to connect with the Earth’s geothermal energy. This delicate ecosystem, and the surrounding environment, has been respected and preserved by the locals for a long while, and visitors are encouraged to respond in kind. Getting to Releng hot springs is easier from Chambai village, from where it takes a 20-25 minutes walk down into the valley.
