Jangwani Camp Sagana: A Rafting Odyssey
The Sagana River, coursing through the heart of central Kenya, shortly before it changes its title to Tana, offers several thrilling rafting experiences for adventure enthusiasts, thanks to the river’s volume, wide valley, and fascinating landscapes. Rafting along Sagana River combines adrenaline-pumping rapids with the beauty of unsullied landscapes. The biggest trump-card at Jangwani Camp are the series of four rapids. The mix of exciting rapids and calm stretches, where you can take in the stunning scenery, makes rafting at Jangwani Camp a unique experience.
Beginners need not worry. The rafting adventure usually begins with smoother sweeps along the river, and smaller rapids for warm-up, progressing to more challenging ones. There’s also a serene section where you can float along and enjoy birdwatching or a refreshing swim. Depending on the season, you would be able to visit caves. In any case, a simple boat ride in front of the river pool near camp is available for all ages. The boat ride allows you to sail appreciably close to the rapids. The best time for rafting on the Sagana River is during and after the rainy season – April to May and October to November – when the river swells.
Still and all, professional guides are always at hand to brief you on rafting modus and safety measures. All necessary equipment, including life jackets, helmets, and paddles, are provided. After an adventurous day at Jangwani, falling asleep to the sounds of the river is a therapeutic experience at the well-kept campsite. If you prefer falling asleep under something more sturdy, there are several luxury units, raised on stilts, with all the modern amenities. Other amenities at Jangwani Camp include; an on-site restaurant, bar, free wi-fi, secure parking and guide services.

Thanks to its diverse landscape, Kenya offers a wide range of outdoor adventures. Mount Kenya, Africa’s second-highest peak, offers various climbing routes. Experience a unique perspective of Kenya’s wildlife and landscapes with a hot air balloon safari over Masai Mara. At the coast, enjoy activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, kite surfing, and boat tours to explore coral reefs and marine life.
