Nyali Bridge: Gateway to the North Coast
Commissioned in 1976, the concrete girder type Nyali Bridge, crossing the Tudor Creek, connecting the island to the mainland in the east is the most important bridge in the Coast Region of Kenya. It replaced a floating bridge located 800 ms downstream. For travellers to Mombasa, crossing Nyali Bridge marks the start of the North Coast Region of Kenya. Interest in the North Coast area is on the five principal beaches of Nyali, Kenyatta, Bamburi, Shanzu and Kikambala Beach. The highlight of Mombasa is its developed 12 km North Coast hosting the Mombasa Marine National Park, drawing in hundreds of thousands each year for sun and sands. Thanks to the fast-growing economy of Mombasa, plans are underway to construct a second Nyali Bridge just west of the existing old one to appositely connect the island with mainland north and feasibly de-congest Nyali Bridge.

Mombasa County is generally warm and humid. A tropical wet and dry climate influenced by warm sea breezes year-round. May is generally the wettest month, then April and June. March is the hottest, peaking at 33oC, with average temperatures across the year rarely falling below 24oC; July and August.
