Lag Badana National Park
Also known as Bushbush National Park, the 3,311 km2 Lag Badana National Park, contiguous with Boni National Reserve along the Kenya-Somalia boundary, was momentously the first national park established in Somalia in the 1980s. Aside from its stretch of lovely, pristine coastline, Lag Badana National Park has upward of 200 vascular vegetal species. Of these, close to 20 are classified as endemic.
Although not a common travel corridor, Boni and Lag Badana Park are interlinked at Ras Kamboni at the Indian Ocean, from where one can travel northerly to Lag Badana’s untravelled beaches. While it’s still unconfirmed whether cheetahs are still present in Somalia, they may be extant in the southern region of Lag Badana.
