Ngomongo Villages: Blast From The Past
Started in 1998, this cherished eco-cultural centre in Shanzu, reached by taking a right turn off B8 Road shortly after Shanzu Teachers Training College to Ngomongo Village, celebrates Kenya’s cultural diversity and offers a glimpse into select tribes. Traditional houses accenting the major cultures have been replicated, along half a mile path, to allow travellers an opportunity to view and appreciate the beauty of native homes. This miniature reflection of diversity has recreated homesteads of Kalenjin, Kikuyu, Maasai, Kamba, and Rendile. Dance performances by traditional troupes bring the experience to life. Visitors can experience the culture and daily life of the tribes through activities like traditional food preparation, sampling local brews, and participating in tribal dances. It is located just 1 km from the B8 turnoff.
