Mombasa Mamba Village: The Real Crocs!
Never been to a crocodile farm? Well, this experience was absolutely unique you. And it is amazing! There is a huge amount of crocodiles; big old crocs and tiny young crocs as well. And several albinos. You can even touched one! They have quite friendly ones. Also, you have a chance to see one of the most dangerous snakes – the black mamba. The 17-acre Mamba Village harbours one of the largest assemblies of crocodiles in Kenya, about 10,000 crocodiles, aged between 1 and 13 years, frequently cited to be among the largest of its kind in Africa. The village also has a snake park, trail, botanical garden, museum, fish farm and aquarium.
But the stars at Mamba Village are, of course, the crocs, seen on a diverting tour that takes visitors appreciably close to these bizarre ancient creatures on a tour demonstrating their life cycle. Yes, visitors to the village can delight in farm to fork crocodile meat, however, and rather more interestingly, is getting to watch the crocodile themselves feed, at 5:00pm, in a chilling, lawless feeding frenzy. The farm is also home to a croc named Big Daddy, a 110 year old monster, billed as one of the oldest crocodiles on earth. It weighs over a tonne and measures over 6 metres. Mamba Village is located about 4.5 km from Nyali Bridge via Nyali and Links Roads. It sits across from entrance to the Nyali Golf and Country Club.
