Grosso Griftu: Livestock Training Institute

Another interesting attraction of Wajir is Groso Griftu Pastoral College, recently renamed as the Livestock Training Institute. To encourage and trade-off modern skill with indigenous know-how, with the aim of enriching both traditional and modern live-stocking, Groso Griftu Pastoral College (GPTC) was established in 1968 about 27 km west of Wajir Town. And since its inception, GPTC has trained over 27,000 pastoralists and agro-pastoralists on various courses ranging from livestock husbandry, agri-business skills and disease identification. Grosso Griftu College is reached via C80 Wajir-Moyale Road for 15.5 km, then via a motorable all-weather road to Griftu Town and Griftu College.
